The Platinum Procyon is named after Procyon, the brightest star in the constellation Canis Minor ('Little Dog').

This Maki-e version was released in a limited edition and has a unique maki-e appearance. Maki-e is a combination of the Japanese words 'sprinkle' and 'paint'. A black lacquer layer is first applied to the pen, after which the design of the pen is carefully applied to the pen with a metallic powder.

The unique thing about the Platinum Procyon fountain pen is that the pen uses the unique Slip & Platinum seal mechanism. Until recently, this mechanism could only be found on the much more expensive Platinum fountain pens, and ensures that the pen does not dry out when the cap is placed on the fountain pen and the fountain pen is not used for a longer period of time. A standard fountain pen dries up over time, the Slip & Seal mechanism delays this process by many months.

The body of the pen is made of aluminum and thus ensures a nice weight balance.  The pentagon-shaped nib stimulates the pleasure of writing, the special coating used to make the pen gives the pen a beautiful vibrant color and makes the pen a collector's item.
