The Platinum #3776 fountain pen is named after the 3,776 meter high Mount Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan. The pen was first introduced in 1978, and has remained undiminished in popularity ever since. In the first 6 months after the pen was released, no less than 150,000 copies were sold, an unprecedented success.
Platinum started producing an improved model in 2011, the 3776 Century. This is equipped with a special sealing section in the cap of the pen, which ensures that the ink in the pen dries out less quickly. This makes it possible to not use the pen for a longer period of time without having to remove the ink from the pen. An absolute innovation in the world of fountain pens.
To celebrate the release of 3776, a fountain pen series called "Fuji Five Lakes" was created from 2011 to 2016, followed by the "Fuji Shunkei" series from 2017 to 2021, which showed the beautiful seasonal scenes of Mt. Fuji on the body of the pens using an advanced carving technique. In 2023, the "Fuji Unkei" series was born with the concept of expressing that image using various decorative methods, inspired by the beautiful landscape created by the collaboration of Mt. Fuji and the surrounding clouds. As the second product in the series, Platinum now releases "Kasumi", which takes on the challenge of new decoration. Fuji Unkei "Kasumi" focuses on the rich natural green seen at the foot of Mount Fuji through the mist, and the cap and grip area are finished in a soothing green color. The barrel is cut to reproduce the Kasumi - Mon (Kasumi pattern) seen on scrolls and screen paintings since ancient times. By connecting small circular cuts, the appearance of waving mist is expressed. This continuous but irregularly arranged pattern gives complex contrast and brilliance, creating a unique fountain pen never seen before.
Comes in a luxury gift box, with ink cartridge, converter and an ink bottle with 20ml limited edition "Fuji-No-Atatsuki" ink.
