Leuchtturm1917 revives the iconic Drehgriffel from the 1920s. The name "Drehgriffel" is a German compound word that literally means "twist stylus" – a writing instrument activated by turning.
The distinctive design makes this pen instantly recognisable: a hexagonal barrel with a narrow tapered tip, where both the tip and the twist knob are finished in a contrasting colour. The Drehgriffel is crafted from precision-milled aluminium and brass, then lacquered and sealed for lasting durability. The pen measures 13 cm in length and features a smooth-turning twist mechanism.
This version is part of the New Colours 2026 collection, inspired by the vibrant tones of the 1970s. It writes with blue, document-proof ink (ISO 15727-2) and can be refilled with blue or black refills. Available in various colours and perfectly compatible with any Leuchtturm1917 pen loop.
