The Drehgriffel Nr. 2 from Leuchtturm1917 is the pencil version within the iconic writing instrument series that dates back to the 1920s. Its design combines a hexagonal aluminium body with a finely tapered steel tip and a twist mechanism that provides a unique writing experience. The tip, twist knob and logo are finished in a subtle graphite tone that highlights the functional character of the pencil.

This edition is part of the New Colours 2026 collection, inspired by the expressive hues and creative energy of the 1970s. The pencil uses a 0.7 mm HB graphite lead and is refillable. Inside, a built-in reservoir holds several leads at once, automatically advancing the next one when the current lead is used up.

The innovative twist mechanism is made in Germany: by turning the knob, the chuck at the tip opens and the lead advances. When the knob is released, the chuck closes and holds the lead securely in place.
