Hobonichi HON A5 - The Hobonichi Techo A5 planner with a nice hardcover
The Hobonichi Techo HON A5 is a Hobonichi Techo planner with a hardcover with an uniquely designed cover. It’s designed to make you feel like you’re carrying around a favorite book, which you can pull out at any time to make notes no matter where you are. The book has A5 size pages with plenty of space to write and paste, and features a page per day, the contents are the same as the Hobonichi Techo Cousin.
The bookbinding on the HON has thread-stitch binding similar to the Hobonichi Techo Planner, so it opens 180 degrees onto the table. It stays flat even if you don’t hold it down. The book uses thin and light yet durable Tomoe River S paper. The paper has supported the Hobonichi Techo for over 20 years with its special characteristics, but it’ll be undergoing an overhaul starting with the 2024 edition techos. The paper is more resistant to bleed through, lighter despite being almost the same thickness, and has a crisper surface by adjusting the fibers of the paper.
Hobonichi HON A5 2025 - English Edition - January Start - Paper Series: Black Gingham
The Paper Series uses unique paper by specialized paper trading company Takeo. This book may seem like an ordinary black techo, but when you look closely, you will find the entire surface covered with a plaid pattern. The book is made of Takeo’s “Gingham GA,” a paper embossed with plaids reminiscent of gingham. You can see the gingham pattern from different angles of light. Although it’s embossed, it feels smooth to the touch. The year 2025 shines elegantly, foil-pressed in silver.
Please note that the cover of this HON book is thinner and softer than the other HON books since it is made by cutting off the sides of the cover instead of wrapping the cover material around the cardboard. It does not have a bookmark. The low-key pattern is perfect for users looking for a simple yet unique design. This HON will blend in at work with a charm that only you would notice. The back of the book has bonus pages, including Sample Symbols and Icons, How to Have Fun Keeping a Diary, and Oodles of Noodles.
As a special exclusive only for the HON, this techo comes with a pencil board. The board is A5 size and clear, with 5 mm grid lines printed across it. There are measurements printed along one side in 1 mm increments, which allow for use as a ruler. It also has a pen holder attached to it where users can store pens by their clips.
